Brazil revel in record setting win; Russia extend win-streak

Team Brazil have a lot of things to be happy about, they have an undefeated record and they just achieved their 100th victory at the FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championship
Lausanne, Switzerland, September 11, 2014 – Brazil scored a victory over China to celebrate their 100th win in FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship history, while Russia extend their winning streak to 10 matches. 

Brazil were in full command of their match against China to stay undefeated in the competition and hit the century mark in wins. Meanwhile, Russia are enjoying their 10th straight win at the World Championship, including the seven match victories in this edition.

Brazil set another record in victories – Brazil’s victory over China is their 100th win in the World Championship. The victory was Brazil’s 11th consecutive win at the World Championship, their longest run since 12 wins in 1994-1998. 

Iran’s new team record – Iran set a new team record of four consecutive wins at the World Championship after a convincing victory over Argentina. Prior to this victory, they have matched their 1970 record of three straight victories. 

Best Canadian stint – Canada won their sixth consecutive match, already a team record. Their six wins in Poland are also more than at any previous World Championship editions. 

USA win three in a row, snap Serbia win-streak – USA beat Serbia 3-1 to win three World Championship matches in a row for the first time since 2010. USA defeated Italy, Poland and Serbia by 3-1 scorelines. 

Germany on a roll – Germany clinched their sixth win in a row, their longest run since nine matches in 1970 as GDR. The last time they won at least six matches at the World Championship was in 2006. They had six wins in 11 matches. 

France match longest win-streak – The 3-1 victory of France against Argentina have now equalled their longest winning streak at the World Championship in five matches. The last time they achieved this feat of five wins in a row was in 1970. France have won six of seven matches at the World Championship. 

Italy ranked outside of top six – Three-time World Championship winners Italy will be ranked outside of the top six for the first time since 1986 after losing four consecutive matches for the first time since 1986. 

Russia’s winning run – Russia are enjoying an extended winning streak of 10 matches, including all seven matches in the 2014 World Championship. They have dropped only four sets in seven matches this season, only one set more than Brazil.
