Sergio Hernandez: Our game was very irregular

Bulgaria defeated Mexico in three sets
Gdańsk, Poland, September 1, 2014 - Bulgaria defeated Mexico 3-0 (25-16, 25-17, 25-21) in their first FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championship Pool C match. In the last set, the Bulgarians backed off a bit, allowing the Mexicans back into the match.

"I have to admit that our game was very irregular," commented Mexican coach Sergio Hernandez. "We have committed many errors and that was our serious problem. I think we are able to show more in the next match. Playing against such a skillful team was a big challenge. They are very focused and efficient."

What are your thoughts on the Ergo Arena and on the city of

Sergio Hernandez: "It is our first visit to Gdańsk, but not the first to Poland. We are used to a Mexican audience, which is very loud and spontaneous. Here in Poland fans are bit calmer, but the nice thing is that they really have a good feeling for volleyball."

What are your thoughts on the match?

Mexico's Samuel Cordova was not satisfied with the game: "We had many opportunities that we did not use at all. The Bulgarians are a brilliant team. They have terrific reception and attack. On the other hand, we want to thank the audience. We received a lot of support from them."

Bulgarian setter Andrey Zhekov said that his team need to improve several things before next game: "All in all, I am satisfied with this game. Like always, there was a bit of pressure, because it was our first game in this tournament." Zhekov added that: "During the third set, we backed off a bit. Even if we tried not to do that, it often happens to us. At the same time, the Mexicans were doing their best, because they had nothing to lose."
