Fans in Bari show their passion

Volleyball is a sport for all, says sign language teacher Esther De Gennaro
Bari, Italy, August 18, 2014 - The local Organising Committee of the FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship Italy 2014 in Bari has initiated a contest inviting volleyball fans to contribute with selfies displaying a volleyball theme and tagged with #barivolley2014. The photos are being collected on the official Facebook page of Bari’s Organising Committee,

The image above was created by Esther De Gennaro, a volleyball fan who is also a sign language teacher. She enclosed the following message: “Since there are many deaf people who are fond of this sport, I would like to join this contest with this picture, where I am showing the sign version of the word volleyball. My wish is that volleyball will always be a sport for all. Thank you.”

The eventual winners of this contest will receive tickets to attend matches at this year's volleyball calendar highlight. Bari will be hosting the teams in Pool D: Japan, China, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Belgium, and Azerbaijan. The city will also host several second round matches.
