Argentina visit Brazil ahead of World Championship

Buenos Aires, Argentina, August 12, 2014 - Coach Julio Velasco's Argentina are in Brazil ahead of the FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championship Poland 2014.  His team will train at the excellent facilities in Saquarema, one of the world's top venues for volleyball. Argentina will also take on Brazil in a series of friendly matches.

The matches are scheduled at 17.00 local time on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, but will be closed to the public and to media.

The Argentine delegation left Buenos Aires on Monday at 21.30. Tuesday will be dedicated to training sessions, including the 14 players who make up the delegation.

The following players were selected:

Setters: Luciano De Cecco, Nicolas Uriarte

Opposites: Jose Luis González, Santiago Darraidou 

Middle spikers: Pablo Crer, Sebastian Sole, Gustavo Porporatto, Martin Ramos 

Wing spikers: Facundo Conte, Rodrigo Quiroga, Alejandro Toro, Javier Filardi 

Liberos: Sebastián Garrocq, Sebastián Closter 

The team will return to Argentina next Saturday. Argentina will also travel to Russia just ahead of the World Championship to finalise their preparations with friendly matches in that country.
