Volleyball is thrilling a nation, say Italian papers

The FIVB Volleyball World League Group 1 Finals in Florence is making national headlines
Florence, Italy, July 19, 2014 - Italy's newspapers are getting excited about the FIVB Volleyball World League Finals and their team's superb performances in Florence.

It has been a sensational week of volleyball action at the Nelson Mandela Forum with Brazil, Iran, Italy and USA reaching Saturday's semifinals, with Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi also joining FIVB President Dr. Ary S. Graça F° courtside.

The Corriere dello Sport said: “Italy flies” as Ivan Zaytsev and his teammates blasted past Australia on Friday to reach the semifinals. La Gazzetta dello Sport hailed a “Beautiful Italy”, worthy of Prime Minister Renzi’s applause.

With semifinal Saturday ahead, many of the Italian scribes expressed their concern about world No. 4 Italy's match against Brazil the number one side in the world. “It’s you again, it’s always you, only you,” writes the Gazzetta about a Brazil side who have often proved to be the Azzurri's nemesis. For La Nazione, the match will be: “like a final.”

Exciting times.
