Volleyball commits to engaging with emerging markets
President Graça attended the brand new sports facilities along with a number of key IOC representatives, including President Thomas Bach. Senior Haitian government representatives were also in attendance.
President Graça’s presence at the Sport for Hope Centre inauguration was a demonstration of his dedication to society’s progress, education and improvement through sport.
He outlined again his visionary ideas for volleyball and the Federation:
“One of my ultimate goals as President is to bring volleyball and beach volleyball to the doorsteps of disadvantaged communities worldwide. We want to ensure that volleyball is made available as an educational tool all over the world. At the FIVB, we are constantly looking to develop our offer and reach new markets and we will not rest until we have made our sport accessible everywhere in the world.
“It is a priority for us to ensure that we are not losing any talented young players, so we always try to support those projects which allow amateurs the opportunity to train hard for their dreams and one day maybe become renowned Olympic champions.
“I am a great believer that volleyball, and all sport, has a significant role to play in our society and I am truly convinced that it is our obligation, as the governing body for volleyball, to take part in and support this amazing development project.”
