We won well but can do more, says Parodi

Parodi in action against USA
Florence, Italy, July 16, 2014 - Italy’s Simone Parodi was delighted with his side’s straight set victory over USA on Wednesday in the FIVB World League, but believes that the Azzurri can do even better.

Parodi said: “I’m very happy with the result, but I’m angry because we blacked out in the third set and we need to stop doing that. If we are going to win we need to play at our best all the way through.

Dragan Travica added: “We are ambitious but we also need to stay humble because this is a difficult tournament. The crowd was great, but we want to see it even better for the next match.”

Sean Rooney said that the USA had no time to dwell on defeat. “This is the World League and we play again tomorrow, so now we need to eat, get a little bit mad, then get over it and prepare for Australia tomorrow.

“It was tough out there and we were playing catch up. Zaytsev really knows how to heat it up out there. And we didn’t know how to act when we were finally got ahead in the third set. We need to communicate better on court.”
