High turn out in Wroclaw at World Champonship Trophy Tour stop

Wroclaw, Poland, June 16, 2014 – Poland’s city of Wroclaw was the latest stop on the FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship Poland 2014 Trophy Tour on Sunday.

There was a high turnout of locals and tourists at the tent housing the trophy, which was situated at the city’s main square of Plac Golebi.

Members of the public had the opportunity to enjoy a rich programme of music and entertainment and to take part in competitions where prizes included tickets to FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship Poland 2014 matches hosted in Wroclaw and host city themed souvenirs.

At a meeting attended by the media and volleyball fans, the FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship Poland 2014 was promoted by Piotr Mazur, Director of Wroclaw’s Sport, Tourism and Recreation Bureau and by Maciej Jarosz, a decorated player, coach and 1980 Olympian, who is also Wroclaw’s World Championship Ambassador.

In the first round of the Championship, Wroclaw will host Argentina, Australia, Cameroon, Poland, Serbia and Venezuela in Pool A when matches take place at the Centennial Hall – a one-of-a-kind historical building. Wroclaw will also host the two second-best teams from Pool B and four best teams from Pool C when the tournament moves into the second round of action.

The next opportunity to see the World Championship trophy will be on June 20, when the Trophy Tour stops in Krakow, right next to the city’s newly built Arena.

Volleyball fans can also follow the Trophy Tour online and on Twitter @FIVBMensWCH #FIVBTrophy.
