Porto Mini-Volleyball Day attracts over 1,500 participants

Porto's Bessa Stadium was the venue for the Mini-Volleyball Day
Lausanne, Switzerland, June 11, 2014 – June 10 is, historically, Portugal’s national holiday, but it’s also turning into a traditional day for Mini-Volleyball.

Like the previous editions, the Mini-Volleyball Day was celebrated at Bessa Stadium in the city of Porto. The event, which is an annual highlight for the Volleyball Association of Porto, was organised under the aegis of the Portuguese Volleyball Federation.

A colourful background was given to the pitch as over 1,500 young athletes divided by two levels competed on 100 courts: Mini-A for children 8-10 of both genders, played with a 2x2 system; and Mini-B for children 10-12 of both genders and played 4x4.

According to the organisation, “This day intended to celebrate the end of an exciting season for the young athletes. The participation in this year’s edition overcame our best expectations and was a true happy day for all those present and for the sport in general, which has a bright future in our country as could be seen here today.”
