Hong Kong to host 2014 Asian Eastern Zonal Women’s Volleyball Championship

Hong Kong, China, May 27, 2014 - The Volleyball Association of Hong Kong has announced the venue for the 2014 Asian Eastern Zonal Women’s Volleyball Championship, which will be held at the Ma On Shan Sports Centre from July 2-6, 2014.

It is the first time the Volleyball Association of Hong Kong will host an AVC competition in Hong Kong, which will feature eight teams including China, DPR Korea, Japan, Korea, Macau, Mongolia, Chinese Taipei, as well as hosts Hong Kong.

Mr Victor Hui, the President of the Volleyball Association of Hong Kong, expressed his enthusiasm for the competition: “Through this competition, we hope to foster appreciation of volleyball in Hong Kong.”

“While the audience can anticipate an engaging competition, more importantly, it is providing an opportunity for the Hong Kong Women’s Volleyball team to face a higher challenge, in preparation for the 2014 Korea Incheon Asian Games,” Mr. Hui added.
The participating teams are divided into two groups, with Hong Kong facing Chinese Taipei, DPR Korea and Korea in Group A. China, Japan, Macau and  Mongolia are to play against each other in Group B.
