Istanbul, Turkey, May 20, 2014 - The inaugural Balkan Kids Volleyball Festival will open its doors at an Istanbul amusement park this weekend.  On May 24, children from all ten member countries of the Balkan Volleyball Association (BVA) will come together at Vialand to play their favourite sport and enjoy the festival atmosphere.

The first edition of the Balkan Kids Volleyball Festival aims to unite children from the Balkan countries and to encourage them to play volleyball even more. The games will be played in a festival atmosphere and the sport's unifying qualities will be promoted.

This year, the Balkan Kids Volleyball Festival is organised in cooperation with the Balkan Volleyball Association and the Turkish Volleyball Federation. It is sponsored by Vialand and the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA). Going forward, it is to be organised every year.

The ten member nations of the BVA – Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Greece, FYR of Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia and Turkey will each participate in the festival with 12 players and two members of their technical staff.  Children from the age of 10 to 12 will form four-player teams and each team will consist of two girls and two boys on the court.

The young volleyball players participating in the festival will enjoy a full day of fun at the amusement park. At the end of the day, all participants will receive a gold medal and, as the motto of the festival says, “volleyball wins”.
