African teams confirmed for FIVB Beach Volleyball U21 World Championship

Women medallists at the 2014 CAVB U21 Beach cup in Niamey, Niger

Niamey, Niger, May 19, 2014 – The Niger men's and Sierra Leone women's U21 beach volleyball teams claimed the gold medals at 2014 CAVB U21 Beach Cup held in Niamey, Niger this weekend and a ticket to this year’s FIVB Beach Volleyball U21 World Championship in Larnaka, Cyprus.

Sierra Leone and Nigeria will also join Niger at the men’s tournament of the U21 World Championship in Larnaka (taking place from July 23 to 27) after winning silver and bronze respectively.

In the women's category Nigeria and Benin won the silver and bronze medals to join gold medallists Sierra Leone at the World Championship.

The competition attracted a great deal of interest from the local media who covered the competition and interviewed the Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee and the Director of Sport in Niamey.
