FIVB President meets Qatar Olympic Committee Secretary General

Doha, Qatar, May 19, 2014 – FIVB President Dr. Ary S. Graça F° met with the Secretary General of the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) His Excellency Sheikh Saoud Bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani at the QOC headquarters in Doha on Sunday to discuss the success of volleyball in the region.

Sheikh Saoud expressed his appreciation to President Graça for the tangible increase in the popularity of volleyball internationally. He also lauded the productive cooperation between the Qatar Volleyball Association (QVA), who was represented in the meeting by QVA President Mr Khalid Ali Al Mawlawi.

President Graça thanked the QOC Secretary General for his hospitality and warm reception in Doha and applauded Qatar’s comprehensive development in the sports infrastructure and its ambitious strategy for development in all fields especially sport. He praised Qatar’s experience in hosting major international sports events and applauded the QOC’s role in sport development. The meeting dealt with a range of vital topics related to volleyball including the cooperation between QVA and FIVB. 

The FIVB President, who also met with the Qatar Prime Minister Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani and the Minister of Youth and Sport Salah bin Ghanem bin Nasser al-Ali during his visit, attended the final match of the prestigious HH the Emir Volleyball Cup Championship won by Al Arabi against Police on Sunday.
