Mississauga, Canada, May 15, 2014 - Canada are the favourites to book the ticket to Italy when the NORCECA World Championship Women’s Qualification Tournament Third-Round Pool S gets underway on Friday at Hershey Centre.

Given their world and continental rankings and the advantage of playing at home, the Canadians have high expectations going into the tournament. The four coaches involved in Pool S spoke of their ambitions at the press conference held on Thursday.

Arnd (Lupo) Ludwig, Canada Coach: “We had a very good training year with this relatively new team.  Our main goal is to win and get to Italy.  We are very excited to be playing here in Canada and we need as much competitive experience as possible to prepare for the Grand Prix and the World Championships.”

Ortnel Findlay, Jamaica Coach: “Our goal is to win, to qualify. We are hoping for the best and so far it was one of our biggest successes just to get here.”

Jorge Azair, Mexico Coach: “This is a new team, a new beginning for this team.  Our hope is to qualify, of course, and not have to go through another qualifier.  Since I was previously the men’s coach, this tournament is new also for me as a coach.”

US Virgin Islands Coach's Lucille Hobson didn't attend the press conference.
