Uganda staging Level 1 Coaching Course

Participants at the coaching course in Kampala
Lausanne, Switzerland, May 12, 2014 – The Uganda Volleyball Federation in collaboration with the FIVB is organizing a Level 1 Coaching Course in Kampala.

The event is taking place at the Uganda Olympic Committee’s facility in Lugogo and is coordinated by the Federation's Technical Director Tonny Lakony.

FIVB Coaches Instructor Alemayehu Shoatatek is the Course Director for the 10-day course. “I am happy to be back here again,” said Alemayehu, who has been conducting courses in Uganda for the last 24 years. “Uganda is my second home.”

Participants in the course will tackle both technical and organisational approaches to the game. They will be examined on three fronts: theory, practical aspects and an oral test.

UVF President Sadik Nasiwu said he was impressed by the turnout: “Some of you have been coaching without the qualification, but with this course I expect you to be better coaches for your clubs.”

KAVC's Shilla Omuriwe, KCC's Anthony Ashaba and Sport-S coach Mugisha Benon are among the 28 coaches attending. “I expect at the end of this that the game of volleyball will grow technically,” Nasiwu added.
