VolleyWorld reflects on a truly Italian affair with the Women’s World Championship Drawing of Lots

Lausanne, Switzerland, April 16, 2014 – With less than a month to go until the start of this year’s volleyball season, VolleyWorld takes a look back at the Drawing of Lots for the FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship Italy 2014 – an important milestone on the road to one of the season’s most anticipated events.

Following a memorable evening of music and artistry, a total of 24 countries were drawn across four pools for the first round of the 17th edition of the FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship, which will be held across six different cities (Trieste, Milan, Modena, Verona, Rome, Bari) in Italy from September 23 to October 12.

It was also the first time that the volleyball family and fans saw the trophy for the Women’s World Championship, with its unique contemporary design created specifically for the quadrennial event.

As the TV cameras onsite captured the reactions of some of Italy’s volleyball greats to the Draw, volleyball fans to social media to share their opinions on the evening’s events.

The drama, reactions and excitement of that memorable night in Parma can all be found here in the pages of the latest issue of VolleyWorld.
