Volero Zurich leads national teams, as preparations begin for FIVB Women's Club Championship

The last defeat of Zürich goes back more than two against Neuchâtel
Lausanne, Switzerland, April 13, 2014 – Just weeks before Zurich hosts the FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship 2014, the city’s club team, Volero, has confirmed its status as the best Swiss women’s volleyball team, winning its ninth national title in 10 years.

Volero left no chance for Volley Köniz in the third game (best of five) in the National League A Championship final, with a 3-0 (25-23, 25-14 and 25-17) win.

Volero is also undefeated in 78 matches in Switzerland, with their last loss more than two years ago, in January 2012 in Neuchâtel.

The team came in fourth place at the FIVB Women’s Club World Championships 2013, which Volero also hosted.

Volero’s president Stav Jocobi says the team’s dominance on the national scene shows its bright future ahead, with the goal of winning the Champions League in the next two years.

This year’s FIVB Women’s Club World Championships will take place at Saalsporthalle in Zurich from May 7-11. Volero, will face Brazil’s SESI-SP, Russia’s Dinamo Kazan and Brazil’s Molico Osasco in the championship.

SESI and Molico Nestlé are also warming up for the FIVB Women’s Club World Championship with a second round appearance of Brazil’s Superliga Feminina. The final of female volleyball Superleague 13/14 will be played April 27.
