Iran’s preparations for big year underway in Tehran

Iran's men have begun their preparations for a busy 2014
Tehran, Iran, April 1, 2014 - Iran's national men’s team have begun their preparations for what they hope will be a huge year in 2014 at a training camp in Tehran.

Iran are set to compete in pool D at the FIVB Volleyball World Championship, Poland 2014 where they will face Italy, France, Belgium and the first and fourth-ranked NORCECA teams. They will also be out to improve on their impressive ninth-place finish from the 2013 FIVB World League and go for gold at the Asian Games.

In total 14 players started the camp that began on March 30 and they will be joined later by players from Matin Varamin who are currently playing in the Asian Men’s Club Championship in Manila in the Philippines.

The camp will represent the first time that new coach Slobodan Kovac has had the chance to work with his charges after he begins his tenure later in April, having taken over from Julio Velasco who returned to coach his native Argentina.
