Coaches Course to benefit Oman's long term volleyball development
Muscat, Oman, April 2, 2014 – The Oman Volleyball
federation is currently conducting a 12-day FIVB Level I Coaches Course in
conjunction with Olympic Solidarity and the FIVB at the Sultan Qaboos Busher
Complex in Muscat.
In all there are 25 participants taking part in the course (24 men & one woman) who are teachers and coaches from local schools, universities, clubs, the Royal Army. A number of senior national team players are also taking part in the course.
Also in attendance is Mr. David Mackenzie a player on the United States Volleyball team, who participated in the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
In the opening ceremony, the Oman Volleyball Federation President Mr. Bader
Al-Rawas said, “The Oman volleyball federation is looking to increase the
number of qualified coaches through FIVB Coaches Courses and seminars. The Federation
will conduct an FIVB Coaches Course in the coming days to improve coaches’
understanding of the sport while building on the fundamentals of volleyball in
Other members of the Oman Volleyball Federation present at the opening ceremony included Abdurrahman Shantear (Expert from the Oman Olympic committee), Ali Al- Masrorey (Director of the Coaches Committee) and Amer Al-Toki (Secretary General).
The course will include theoretical and practical sessions, which present many fundamental and core subjects in volleyball, coaching skills, physical conditioning, the basics of Mini volleyball and updates on training information.
