National Federations invited to spread love for sport through Volley All Festival

Young girls demonstrate their passion for volleyball at a Volley All Festival in Italy in 2011

Lausanne, Switzerland, March 20, 2014 – Following the success of previous years, the President of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) Dr. Ary S. Graça F° has launched a worldwide call for national federations to take part in this year’s Volley All Festival.

The Volley All Festival is an annual worldwide event where thousands of young people get together to play volleyball in their cities, public parks or other locations used by the local community.

President Graça says it is important that the concept continues to grow, especially considering the excellent opportunity it provides for people to show their passion for volleyball and sport in general.

"Since its inception five years ago the Volley All Festival has served to promote volleyball and beach volleyball at the national level and has shown that it can be a truly universal sport with mass participation," President Graça said. "It is a crucial tool for the development of sport in general and provides an easy and dynamic opportunity for people to get involved and be active."

Studies have shown that the Volley All Festival has helped increase the visibility of volleyball and beach volleyball at the national level.
The festival also aims to attract public interest through TV and media coverage to support local authorities and potential sponsors.

Each year the FIVB receives photos of Volley All Festival events from around the world. In 2011 the, Sri Lanka won the award for the best picture which the 2012 the Cook Islands and Austria won the contest. Last year’s winners included Cape Verde, Eritrea and Finland.

From 2009 to 2012 the Volley All Festivals have seen the participation of 1,848,239 people around the world. In 2013 almost 500,000 people attended the different festival around the world.
