Burundi PCV Refereeing Course attracts 30 participants

The students took turns officiating in a practical session of the refereeing courses in Bujumbura
Lausanne, Switzerland, March 14, 2014 – Burundi hosted a PCV Refereeing Course from March 3-7 in the capital city of Bujumbura.

Thirty people (26 men and four women) took part in the course, which was directed by Joauad Berrada.

All but one of the participants – an engineer – were students studying to become physical education teachers. One of the participants was a national team player.

Course Director Berrada covered the rules of the game, using diagrams and videos in four theoretical sessions. There were also four practical sessions with the students officiating matches as first referees, second referees, line judges and scorers.

The opening and closing ceremony of the course was attended by Burundi Volleyball Federation President Louis Rwakiranya and national team coach Charles Niyongabo.
