VolleyWorld takes a global view of volleyball and beach volleyball in 2014
Lausanne, Switzerland, March 10, 2014 – As we head into another action packed volleyball and beach volleyball season, VolleyWorld previews what’s in store for the coming months.
This issue takes a closer look at the success of an unlikely combination of beach volleyball at the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, before looking ahead to what will be the sport’s busiest year yet.
On the volleyball front, players and fans are
preparing for the sport’s most anticipated tournament of the season – the FIVB
Volleyball World Championships – which will see the world’s best teams play
against each other for the coveted title of ‘World Champion’.
With a record $10.2m in prize money, 10 Grand Slams, an inaugural FIVB Grand Slam Final, 11 Open tournaments and four age-group tournaments, which include the inaugural U17 Beach Volleyball World Championship, beach volleyball is looking at one of its busiest year’s yet. Tried and tested partnerships will play against newer ones on beach volleyball courts on all five continents this year.
