Snow Volley tournament highlight of Christmas celebrations in Saint Petersburg

The Snow Volley Christmas tournament programme also included traditional Russian entertainment, ‘valenok throwing’, where men and women throw felt boots.

Saint Petersburg, Russia, January 13, 2014 – The traditional Snow Volley Christmas tournament was held on January 7 in Saint Petersburg. With no snow on the ground this year and with temperatures at +2°C, players performed on wet sand.

The tournament was attended by 50 teams and a total of 180 participants, including professional beach volleyball players, junior players, VIPs and fans. Tess was once again the main tournament sponsor. The pros played 2-on-2 while other categories followed a 4-on-4 format.

The Committee for Physical Culture and Sport of the city of St. Petersburg awarded cups and medals to the winners, while balls were donated by the Russian Volleyball Federation.

T-shirts were presented by the Northwestern Volleyball Association, while other gifts and prizes were provided by sponsors Gazprom Mezhregiongaz St. Petersburg, Avrora, the pharmaceutical holding Severo Zapad, Komus as well as the jewellery store Zolotoy.
