France do double over Dutch in World Championship warm-ups

France got a boost of confidence after two 3-0 wins over the Netherlands

Paris, France, December 30, 2013 – France head coach Laurent Tillie could not ask for a better boost of confidence ahead of the January 3-5 World Championship qualifiers as his guys beat the Netherlands twice in warm-up matches in s’-Hertogenbosch.

Back home after spending three days in the Netherlands and edging the “Oranjes” in straight sets, Tillie was happy with what he saw in s’-Hertogenbosch where all his players got some playing time. Despite having a hard schedule with their clubs, the players showed they are in good shape with two straight victories over the Netherlands.

On Saturday, France beat the “Oranjes” 25-22, 25-20, 25-20 in front of 3,000 spectators, and they repeated that feat on Sunday, 25-21, 25-23, 25-23.

France will play Spain, Belarus and Belgium in the World Championship qualifiers.

“I am very satisfied with the result and also with the feeling in the squad,” Tillie said. “We showed patience and were able to disrupt their tactics. All the players had a chance to join the action and we got back home in very good physical shape. We could not ask for a better way to prepare for this tournament.”

In the January 3-5 qualifiers, France will play Belarus, Spain and Belgium at the Carpentier Hall in Paris.
