Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, November 29,
2013 - The Volleyball Development Centre (CDV) in Saquarema, Rio de Janeiro,
will hold the second South American Boys’ U17 South American Championship from
December 4 to 7.
Hosts Brazil who are also the current
championship title holders, will face Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Paraguay and
Uruguay in the competition.
In Saquarema, Rio de Janeiro, all six teams will
face each other once in the classification stage with the top four advancing to
the semifinals, which will define the two teams who will compete for the title.
From
November 9 to 17, the Colombian city of Popayán hosted the second edition of
the South American Youth Girls' Championship, where the Brazilian team was also
crowned champion. The Brazilian
team guided by the Argentine coach Daniel Moine are completing their preparations for the tournament at the High
Performance Center in the Colombian capital.
Colombian coach Daniel Moine unveiled the
expectations that he has for the team, "I think the championship is a
great success for the South American Volleyball Confederation because it is a
good opportunity for the kids to start gaining international experience,
knowing what it is to be in a big tournament with the best teams in South
America. Colombia have had good training time, which compensates for their lack
of international exposure. The teams do not know each other well and I hope we
have a good performance."
