A bright future for volleyball in Palestine

Bethlehem, Palestine, November 15, 2013 – It is no secret that sport is a force for good and as communities in Palestine are showing, volleyball can bring together people of different ages to work towards a common goal.

Under the leadership of head coach Mr Rane Asfour, volleyball activities were held around Palestine in order to help expand the sport in line with the FIVB’s overall strategy for development.

This initiative builds on the Volley All Festival that was organised by the Palestine National Federation in August, which saw thousands of young people get together to play volleyball in their cities, public parks or other locations used by the local community.

Earlier in the year, a coaches course brought together 20 participants with the objective of supporting the volleyball community in Palestine and assist the federation’s new leadership with developing the sport through its interaction with schools, physical education teachers and coaches.

With the FIVB’s support, the national federation has set out some ambitious plans which includes putting the country on the international volleyball map.
