Nigeria and Ghana start victorious in Men's World C'ship qualifiers

 
Nigeria started the Zone 3 qualifiers with a win over hosts Niger
 
 Niamey, Niger, October 25, 2013 – Nigeria and Ghana emerged victorious on the opening day of the 2014 FIVB Men's World Championship Zone 3 (Pool O) qualification tournament in Niamey on Thursday.

Nigeria beat hosts Niger 3-0 (25-22, 25-21, 25-22) in a tough match in front of more than 2,000 spectators.

Ghana easily overcame Burkina Faso 3-0 (25-15, 25-21, 25-10) in a match where Burkina Faso were overwhelmed by the winners who were better in both attack and defence.

The second day features two more matches: Ghana will take on Nigeria in the early game, while Niger will face Burkina Faso.

The top two teams in this four-nation tournament will proceed to the final round of the qualification to be held in three different countries in January and February next year.
