Seychelles edge Mauritius in tiebreak Men's World Championship qualifier

Seychelles made their way to the final round of FIVB World Championship qualifier

Vacoas, Mauritius, October 7, 2013 – The Seychelles men's volleyball team secured a place in the final phase of the 2014 FIVB World Championship African Qualifier following their victory over host Mauritius in grueling tiebreaker in Pandit Sahadeo Gymnasium in Vacoas on Sunday.

Seychelles played their best to overcome Mauritius 3-2 (25-23, 25-23, 19-25, 29-31, 15-11) in their decisive match of zone 7.

The guests started the match aggressively to lead 2-0, using their serves as an important weapon before the Mauritians came back aggressively with support of the home crowd to win the third and fourth sets and extend the match to tiebreak. Seychelles regained the rhythm on time to win the tiebreak and gain the tough victory 3-2.

"We made some changes during the match which allowed us to return back on time,“ said Camille James, the coach of the Seychelles. „Our level of play has improved and in fact, we could reverse the situation in the third and fourth sets. "Now, we must improve in order to prepare for the final round in the best conditions."
