Trentino to launch Club World Championship defence against Kalleh

Trentino will be looking for their fifth straight title at the FIVB Volleyball Men's Club World Championship
Lausanne, Switzerland, September 24, 2013 – Four-time defending champions Trentino Diatec will open the FIVB Volleyball Men’s Club World Championship against Iranian team Kalleh when the competition gets under way at the Divino Brago arena in Betim, Brazil, on October 15.

The Men's Club World Championship will run from October 15 to 20. Two pools of four teams will compete on a round-robin basis for the first four days with the top two teams in each pool going on to the semifinals, which will take place on October 19. The final and third-place playoff will be held on October 20.

Pool A consists of Trentino, Asian champions Kalleh, South American title-holders UPCN of Argentina and Japan’s Panasonic Panthers. 

Last year’s runners-up Sada Cruizeiro are in Pool B along with Russia’s Lokomotiv Novossibirsk, Club Sportif Sfaxien of Tunisia and the Dominican Republic’s La Romana.

Host team Sada Cruzeiro will play their first match against NORCECA representatives La Romana on October 15.

European champions Lokomotiv Novossibirsk have to wait until the second day for their first appearance when they will face La Romana.

The final will take place at 16:00 (19:00 GMT) on October 20.

Italian clubs have won all eight editions of the Men's Club World Championship with Trentino taking the last four.
