Beach Volley Festival in Novgorod

Eight courts were set up in the center of the city on the river bank Volkhov near the walls of the ancient Kremlin.

Velikiy Novgorod, Russia, July 15, 2013 – Following on the success of the beach volley festival in St. Petersburg, Russia held another beach volley festival in Velikiy Novgorod this past weekend.

In all there were 108 teams, comprising juniors, seniors, amateurs, professionals and VIPs. The participants came from different regions of Russia and one duo from USA.

Participants took part in different games and fan competitions, with more than 50 prizes and gifts offered by the organisers. Professionals competed for prize money of RUB 150,000.  

The beach volley festival is a mass event with mass participation. It was created to give people around the world a fun, enjoyable and competitive environment in which to play  beach volleyball.

The event gives national federations the opportunity to develop the sport locally and to work on an event which combines the promotion of sports, youth interest, and media at the local and international level.
