Honda off to triumphant start at Beach Volleyball World Championships

Honda shows its versatility at the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships in Stare Jablonki, Poland
Lausanne, Switzerland, July 12, 2013 – The recent FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships that was held in Stare Jablonki, Poland was a tournament of many firsts – from the winners to the introduction of new sponsors, Honda who were very involved in the event.

The FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships, held in Poland from July 1 to 7, was first major event since Honda and the FIVB agreed their new four-year sponsorship deal in May.

The Polish village of Stare Jablonki played host to the seven days of incredible beach volleyball from 48 male and female teams, each jousting across five fervent courts to decide the world champion nation. More than 6,000 fans packed the sold-out main stadium and watched in awe as the world's very best beach volleyball players battled it out to see which team would emerge on top.

Honda took advantage of the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships to showcase its line-up of cutting-edge mobility, which included automobiles and other unique examples, such as the Miimo robotic lawnmower. As the tournament venues overflowed with the passion of the fans, Honda showed how its imagination and innovation can further energise the power of sports.

Honda’s sponsorship will extend to a series of major world-class events including the Women’s Volleyball World Championship Italy 2014, the World League and the World Grand Prix, and the Club World Championships. The partnership was concluded under the FIVB Global Partnership Strategy, part of a wider FIVB Partnership Programme that aims to integrate a select few brands with exclusive rights across both volleyball and beach volleyball FIVB events.

Honda’s decision to lend its support to volleyball, fits well with the professionalism, leadership and organisation of the sport; qualities that resonate well with Honda’s corporate philosophy of “The Power of Dreams.” Moreover, Honda’s brand identifies strongly with the global and youthful sport of volleyball that is underpinned by strong family values.

Over the past few years, volleyball has witnessed unprecedented growth. The FIVB, with its 220 affiliated national federations, is the largest international sports federation in the world.
