Pavlik replaces Kessy for World Championships

Whitney Pavlik is a late call up by the USA as a replacement for the injured Jennifer Kessy

Stare Jablonki, Poland, June 28, 2013 – Whitney Pavlik has been handed a last-minute place at the upcoming FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships after Jennifer Kessy was forced to withdraw through injury.

Pavlik will now team up with April Ross in one of four USA female pairings at the tournament after Kessy was withdrawn to allow her to recover from a hip injury.

Kessy recently won her and Ross’ first medal of the year, when they claimed silver at the Rome Grand Slam. They were world champions in 2009 and won the silver medal at the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Also out of the World Championships is Italy’s Matteo Ingrosso, who has suffered a hand injury and will be out of action for 35 days. His place alongside his brother Paolo goes to Matteo Cecchini.
