Lausanne, Switzerland, June 8, 2013 – Russia and Serbia stayed unbeaten in the FIVB World League on Saturday, picking up their second wins in two days. Russia overcame Iran 3-1, while Serbia defeated Cuba by a similar score.

Three other teams picked up their second victories in the World League: Finland beat Korea 3-0, the Netherlands defeated Japan 3-1 – Japan’s third straight loss – and Portugal overcame Canada 3-1. In Saturday’s other match, John Speraw earned his first win as coach of USA with a hard-fought 3-1 win over Argentina.

“We played better tonight,” said USA captain Matt Anderson. “We played more as a team and complemented each other in different aspects of the game. Our serving was a lot better tonight, which put pressure on them as opposed to them putting pressure on us last night.”

Five more matches will be played on Sunday.
