Grassroots Beach Volleyball Course in Cook Islands

The course attracted 24 new comers to the sport of beach volleyball and participants recognised the FIVB’s support for the programme.

Rarotonga, Cook Islands, June 6, 2013 – The Cook Islands are celebrating the end of a successful VCP Grassroots Beach Volleyball Course under the leadership of Course Director, Hugh Graham and Course Instructor, Phillip George.

The course, which took place from 24 to 28 April, was the second VCP course to take place in the Cook Islands.

In line with FIVB development strategy for the Oceania region, beach volleyball is one of the fundamental pillars of sport development for the region and successful results have already been seen especially in places like Vanuatu.

The Grassroots  Beach Volleyball programme is designed for National Federations, or simply beach volleyball enthusiasts willing to further develop beach volleyball in their respective countries. The course provides an insight into the world of beach volleyball and teaches fundamental issues like how to create and to organise beach volleyball competitions. The course also covers the latest rules and regulations and provides the most up-to-date information on beach volleyball structures.
