SL Benefica win the Portugal's Men's National League title

Porto, Portugal, May 13, 2013 -  SL Benfica  have claimed Portugal’s men’s national league title by edging out rivals SC Espinho 3-1 (25-27, 25-19, 25-13, 25-22) in the third and final match of the Championship series.

With this result SL Benfica have reversed three consecutive losses in the championship where they have been beaten twice by SC Espinho (in 2010 and 2012) and once by AJ Fonte Bastardo Azores.

SL Benfica and SC Espinho remain the dominant forces in Portugal’s domestic volleyball arena. Together they have claimed five titles in the last nine editions of the national league.

SL Benfica is a four-time national champion having taken part in 14 editions of the national cup. They have also won two titles in the Supercup and one victory in the Cup of the Federation, SC Espinho remain the most decorated club in history with 18 titles in the national league, 11 in the national cup, 4 in the Supercup and one victory in the Top Teams Cup.
