Successful Cool Volley Festival in St. Croix, Virgin Islands

St Croix, Virgin Islands, May 10, 2013 - The Virgin Islands Volleyball Federation  with significant support from the FIVB and NORCECA Confederation, partnered with the Virgin Islands National Guard, Virgin Islands Sports, Parks and Recreation and the Virgin Islands Department of Labor to host a Cool Volley Festival.

The activity took place at the St. Croix Educational Complex High School Football Field, where some 15 schools participated in the first ever event of this kind.

This program is part of the Federation's strategy to enhance the game of volleyball for school children between the 6-15 years of age. The Cool Volley Festival was well attended as some 125 children from 1st through 10th grade showed up in force to enjoy a day of fun and activity.

Lucille Hobson, president of the Virgin Islands Volleyball Federation said the goals of the federation were met as they displayed the important tangibles such as teamwork and discipline.

“From the number of beaming faces and positive comments from teachers and parents who wanted to know if we would be doing it again next week, it was more than evident that Cool Volley is the wave of the future in school sports and volleyball development,” she said.
