FIVB Development Fund advancing volleyball in Bangladesh

Dhaka Sabuj Club played against Bangladesh Central Jail
Lausanne, Switzerland, April 2, 2013 – Bangladesh’s first division 2013 Metropolitan Volleyball League included the participation of five players from the country’s schools. Making the leap into senior level competition, these young players are currently registered with the following local volleyball clubs: City Club viz, East End Club, Uttara Sporting Club, East End Boys and Azad Sporting Club.

In the first division matches, Dhaka Sabuj Club won 3-1 against Bangladesh Central Jail to retain their title.

The second division 2013 Metropolitan League is scheduled to be held in the first week of May. Here again, a number of players from recently concluded Upazilla School Tournament Under Development Project are expected to participate in the competition.

Bangladesh’s development project is supported by the FIVB Development Fund, which was launched in June 2010. The aim of the FIVB Development Fund is to assist with the direct implementation of new development projects that are likely to improve the performance and situation of volleyball and beach volleyball at the national level, allowing national federations to develop and grow through close collaboration with their local stakeholders, governmental agencies and other private or governmental organisations.
