Tunisia collect third win in Men's Junior African Championship

Tunis,
Tunisia, March 4, 2013 – Hosts Tunisia continued their winning streak at the
2013 Men's Junior African Nations Championship as they collected their third
victory in a row to lead Pool A with nine points.Tunisia overcame
favourites Algeria 3-0 (25-19, 25-23, 26-24) on the third day of the
competition held at the Sidi Boussaid Hall in Tunis on Monday.
The African Nations Championship is a qualifying event for the FIVB Men's U21 world Championship to be held in Turkey later this year with the top four teams in Tunis guaranteed a ticket.
Also in
Pool A, Congo Brazzaville secured their first win – against Sierra Leone 3-0
(25-22, 25-10, 25-16) – while Pool B saw a second victory for Morocco in their
match against Libya. Morocco won the match 3-1 (20-25, 25-22, 25-19, 25-16) to
lead the pool along with Egypt, who had a rest day. RD Congo beat South Africa
in straight sets (25-23, 25-21, 25-19) in the other pool match.
Tunisia lead
Pool A with nine points, followed by Rwanda, Congo Brazzaville and Algeria with
three points from 1-1 records and winless Sierra Leone (0-3).
Morocco and
Egypt led Pool B with six points each from 2-0 records, followed by RD Congo (1-2)
on four points, Libya (1-1) on two points and South Africa with no points after
three losses.
Democratic
Republic of Congo downed South Africa in straight sets (25-23, 25-21, 25-19) in
a competitive match in Pool B.
