FIVB Women's World Championship Organising Committee announced
The Organising Committee, which is responsible for running the competition which takes place every four years under the guidance of the FIVB, will use the experience of when organising the FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championship in 2010.
The members of the Organising Committee, announced in the company of Women’s World Championship in the “Sala Giunti” of new CONI President Giovanni Malagò and new General Secretary Roberto Fabbricini, are: Carlo Salvatori (President), Carlo Magri (FIPAV President), Gianni Letta, Gilberto Benetton, Enzo Mei, Marco Staderini, Gaetano Guerci, Alessandro Pasquarelli, Giuseppe Sala and Maurizio Tamagnini.
“The 2014 World Championship will be the most important sporting event in Italy," CONI President Malago said. "I think the Italian Volleyball Federation and President Magri should be commended for the effort they always put in. The FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship will add luster to both the volleyball and the entire sports movement nationwide.”
Mr Salvatori commented: “For me, this is my second term as president after the success of four years ago, and for us it is an honour to once again organise a World Championship.”
"To say that I'm happy is perhaps obvious, but with our work we always try to be at the top of both the technical and the organisational level,” Mr Magri said. “Hosting consecutive World Championship is no trivial matter, but as usual we do not hesitate in meeting this challenge.”
The FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championship 2014 will be held in Poland.
