Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, February 22, 2013 - The
third stop of the South American Beach Volleyball Circuit will be held in held
in Pocitos in Montevideo, Uruguay. Thirty two pairs from Argentina,
Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Paraguay, Peru and Venezuela will participate in
addition to the six teams representing the host country. Brazil leads the rankings
for the 2012/13 season for both genders, followed by Chile in the men’s and
Argentina in the women’s.
Two teams from Brazil will be making their debut at
the competition. Leonardo Gomes-Daniel Souza and Brian de Rosa-Daniel Lazzari
will participate for the first time at the South American Beach Volleyball
Circuit.
‘It is an
honour to have the chance to defend Brazil in such an important
competition. We prepared ourselves very well, watched videos of our
rivals and even though it is clear it will be a very difficult stop, the goal
is to win. Daniel and myself have been friends since 2007, we train
together and we know each other pretty well,” said de Rosa.
According to the rules of this circuit stop, the
host country can register up to 16 teams even if two teams from the same
country meet each other in the final match. This new rule was put in place following
a majority approval from the South American Confederation (CSV) Beach
Volleyball Commission Members.
