Excitement builds towards World Champs at 150-day mark

Stare Jablonki is one of the most popular venues on the World Tour, with centre court packed out throughout the week

Stare Jablonki, Poland, 4 February, 2013 – With 150 days until the start of the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships tournament organisers are starting to build the excitement.

The tournament is the first time that Poland have been awarded the hosting rights and they will welcome the cream of the world’s beach volleyball players to the Mazury Lake-side venue from July 1-7.

To help celebrate the 150 day-mark the organisers have launched the official tournament website at www.worldtour.pl and it will provide news, information and video clips as the countdown to the first day of competition continues.

Stare Jablonki were rewarded with the hosting rights after nine years of organising an annual FIVB World Tour event, first an Open and then from 2010, a Grand Slam. It is one of the most popular venues on the World Tour and regularly sells out its 9,000 centre court arena throughout the week.

Off court the venue is abuzz with spectators and there are plans to repeat the spectator experience at the World Championships with concerts, coaching clinics and restaurants staffed by Poland’s best chefs.

Over 100,000 beach volleyball fans are expected to take in the action live, with many more tuning in on television to see if Brazil’s Emanuel Rego and Alison Cerutti can defend their world crown and find out who will succeed Juliana Felisberta and Larissa Franca as women’s champions.
