President Graça meets with Italy Federation

Mr Magri and the Italian Volleyball Federation will play the lead role in the FIVB's strategic development plan for north Africa

Lausanne, Switzerland, January 18, 2013 – FIVB President Dr. Ary S. Graça F° met with the Italian Volleyball Federation President and FIVB Executive Co-Opted Member Mr Carlo Magri at the FIVB headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland on Friday to discuss key development initiatives and the FIVB Women’s World Championship 2014.

As one of President Graça’s first strategic development moves, the Italy Volleyball Federation will assist in the development of volleyball in north Africa by starting to work with the Algeria Volleyball Federation before also helping the Tunisia and Morocco Volleyball Federations in a subsequent phase.

President Graça and Mr Magri also discussed the progress of preparation for the FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship 2014 to be held in Italy.

“The meeting was an excellent opportunity to lay down the ground work for the new development plan for north Africa because Mr Magri and the Italian Volleyball Federation will play the lead role,” President Graça said. “Equally important is the continued preparation for the FIVB’s signature event – the FIVB World Championships. After Italy had hosted the 2010 men’s edition we know we can expect a high level of organisation building up to next year’s main event.”
