Referee course underway in Argentina

Participants from America, Africa, Europe and Asia are being given theoretical lessons by former international referee Thomas Blue, from USA

Mar del Plata, Argentina, November 26, 2012 – A total of 22 candidates from 15 different countries, representing four continents, have converged on the coastal city of Mar del Plata, Argentina, for an International Referee Candidate Course organised by the FIVB Regional Development Centre located in the country.

The course began on Saturday, and will continue until December 1. This is the second course of its kind carried out by the Development Centre and the Argentine Volleyball Federation, following a well-regarded series of classes held in Buenos Aires in 2010.

Participants from America, Africa, Europe and Asia are being given theoretical lessons by former international referee Thomas Blue, from USA, who is in charge of the course. Two former international referees local to the region, Juan Ángel Pereyra and Guillermo Paredes, are also working as instructors in the course.

The course’s practical sessions will take advantage of the matches making up the Juegos Deportivos Buenos Aires La Provincia (Games from Buenos Aires province) – a multi-sport junior competition that gathers together over 15000 boys and girls.
