Annual Cape Verde Mass Volley Festival draws young players to the court on São Nicolau

The event attracted about 100 students from the primary and secondary schools of Ribeira Brava for a full day of learning and games
Ribeira Brava, Cape Verde, November 23, 2012 – In what has become a yearly tradition, the Cape Verde Volleyball Federation organised a Mass Volley Festival for children on November 2, Cape Verde’s National Sports Day.

The event drew about 100 students from the primary and secondary schools of Ribeira Brava, on the beautiful island of São Nicolau, for a day of learning and games. The Mass Volley initiative is a part of the Cape Verde Volleyball Federation’s annual strategy to promote volleyball among young people, attract new players to the sport, and contribute to a better environment for volleyball to thrive in.

This year’s activities were supported by the mayor of Ribeira Brava, Americo Nascimento – who happens to be the former President of the CapeVerde Volleyball Federation.

To make sure children have the tools to keep practicing, as always the materials (nets, balls, markers and sweatshirts) were left at the festival location for the local community.
