Maldives volleyball president receives development award

 
Riyaz was recently elected to run the Volleyball Association of Maldives for a second consecutive term
 
Dharubaaruge, Maldives, November 12, 2012 – The Volleyball Association of Maldives president Mohamed Riyaz was presented his country’s National Award of Recognition in the area of Sports Development on Sunday.

The award was presented by His Excellency Dr Mohamed Waheed at an official function held at Dharubaaruge to mark this year’s Republic Day.

Riyaz, who was recently elected to run the Volleyball Association of Maldives for a second consecutive term, received a commemorative plaque and a certificate.

Riyaz started his sports administrative service to Maldives volleyball in the early 1990s, when he passed the National Volleyball Referees Course. His service to the field of sports includes serving on the Maldives Olympic Committee and other sporting bodies in the country.
