Iran hosts FIVB Technical Seminar for middle players
The opening ceremony was attended by general secretary Mahmoud Afshardoust, chief of the Training & Research department Dr. Nader Shavandi, national teams technical manager Dr. Khosrow Ebrahim and the FIVB instructor.
The general secretary gave a short speech at the opening ceremony, in which he applauded the instructor and all of the participants for their interest, and thanked the FIVB for entrusting the seminar to Iran.
“In this Seminar we will have theoretical subjects in the morning and practical matters in the afternoon sessions,” said Dr. Shavandi. “The course will emphasise different subjects, such as the fundamental movements of the middle player, progressive training, physical fitness, mental preparation, new progressive systems and tactics.”
“It is my pleasure to come back to Tehran for the second time after 17 years,” said Adachi. “Volleyball in your country has progressed far from that time until now. At the moment you are a leader of volleyball in Asia, and to hold on to this title you need to strengthen fundamentals of volleyball. Holding different FIVB courses will help you improve training in techniques. Iran’s players are in good condition from a body strength and physical fitness perspective.
A total of 30 participants – 20 men and 10 women – have come to the course from around the country. Most are ex-volleyball players, working as coaches at different levels with different teams.
Adachi said he was satisfied with the participants’ level of knowledge, and with the federation’s preparation and organisation of the course. The sessions run until November 14, when a valedictory ceremony and the distribution of certificates will take place.
