VCP Refereeing course begins in Guatemala

Mazatenango, Guatemala, November 8, 2012 – With the support and backing of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) and NORCECA, a national Volleyball Cooperation Programme (VCP) referee course was held in the city of Mazatenango, Guatemala November 6 to 10.
The course was attended by 34 representatives from 15 departments of the Guatemalan Republic. Four of them are women who were invited to join by the National Federation.
The objective of this initiative was to train new national referees, and the process was overseen by the president of the Arbitration Commission, José Ramón Pérez Vento, with support from the Technical Committee of the National Volleyball Federation of Guatemala; comprising Carlos René de la Cruz, arbitration commission member, and Gerardo Cifuentes, national technical director.
