Vanuatu beach volleyball pair named Pacific Games Council Outstanding Team of the Year

Iatika and Elwin won gold at the Seoul Women's Challenger, as well as silver at the Women's AVC Beach Volleyball Championship
Mata'utu, Wallis Island, November 6, 2012 – The Vanuatu women’s beach volleyball team were selected as the Pacific’s Outstanding Team of the Year at the 4th annual Pacific Sports Awards.

The awards were presented at the Pacific Games Council's annual General Assembly held on Wallis Island October 18 to 19.

“This is a huge achievement for Vanuatu and Volleyball in the Pacific,” said Debbie Masaufakalo, president of Vanuatu Volleyball.

Vanuatu’s Henriette Iatika and Miller Elwin have just won silver at the Women’s AVC Beach Volleyball Championship. They took gold at the Seoul Women’s Challenger earlier this year, and finished an impressive ninth at the Bangsaen Thailand Open in October. The pair are ranked 44th on the 2012 FIVB SWATCH World Tour.
