Nakhonpathom City, Thailand, October 10, 2012 – An FIVB referees' refresher course was conducted in Nakhonpathom City October 2 to 6. Twenty six participants, including six women and 20 men from eight federations (China, Hong Kong, Iran, Brunei, Qatar, Maldives, Mauritania and Thailand) attended the course.
The course was held to coincide with the 16th Asian Junior Women's Volleyball Championship, which ran October 1 to 9, so all participants could study and observe the performance of referees officiating real matches. This was appreciated by all attendees.
The course was run by FIVB Instructor Mohamad Hassan, Secretary of the FIVB Referees' Commission.
Attendees expressed their gratitude for the hospitality they received from staff in Thailand. Somporn Chaibangyang, president of the Thailand Volleyball Association, invited all of them to dinner on October 4, as well as joining them as the course ended on October 6 to Chair the closing ceremony.
All the participants said they would be able to apply the knowledge from this refresher course to competition in their countries.
