Mar del Plata, Argentina, September 28, 2012 - Argentina's Personal Bolivar are the champions of the fifth edition of the Volleyball World Challenge Cup, winning their third crown in 2012 by overcoming Brazilian team Super Imperatriz Volei Floripa 3-0 (30-28, 25-15, 25-22) on September 22.
Super Imperatriz’s Rafa was the top scorer of the game, but it wasn’t enough to earn his team the cup. Angel Dennis scored 15 for Bolivar – less than Rafa, but enough to make him the overall top scorer of the competition.
Bolivar won the first two editions of the World Challenge Cup in the years 2008 and 2009. With this year’s win, the team coached by Javier Weber retook the all-time lead with three crowns. Brazilian squad Sada Cruzeiro, who will feature in the Club World Championships in Qatar next month, won in 2010 and 2011.
Mar del Plata hosted the 2012 competition after the last three consecutive editions were played in the United States.
